Spa in the city

The German language has a knack for expressing complex ideas or feelings in just a few syllables. Take großstadtmüde, for example; the feeling of being fed up with the big city, of longing for peace and tranquility, far from the madding crowd. It is an affliction which can befall even the most devout urbanites. [READ MORE]

Summer bubbly

Champagne and summer go together like, well, champagne and summer. During Berlin’s notoriously hot months, when the city transforms into Cannes by the Spree, there’s no better way to cool down than with a drop of ice-cold bubbly. Not any old bubbly, mind, but a drop of Moët Chandon. This five-star champagne can be found in various watering holes around Berlin, but the Hôtel Concorde has gone one better and recently opened up its very own Moët-Ice-Bar. Here you’ll find specially pressed champagnes, delicious when served on ice, as well as an impressive list of zesty cocktail creations. Enjoy a glass or two on the hotel’s summer terrace, located just off the bustling Kurfürstendamm. [READ MORE]

Rubbing shoulders with the chefs

Everyone knows the best parties always end up in the kitchen. Why not cut out the middleman? That was the thinking behind “Kitchen Party”, a new culinary event from the team at the The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin. Instead of sitting out in the dining hall waiting for their dishes to be brought out, guests get to mingle with the cooks among the pots and pans. This is much more than just a midnight snack attack or a peek behind the scenes and the new chef de cuisine, André Trojanowski, and his team are more than happy to oblige if a guest has a special request or suggestion.
